Know what’s being checked—and who gets the results.

An owner’s testing program works best when coverage, reporting, and communication are agreed before the critical work begins. We’ll help define those expectations with your team.

01

Coverage tied to the work

Review the earthwork, foundations, concrete, masonry, and other activities that need observation or testing. Align requested coverage with the project requirements and construction sequence.

02

Useful reporting

Identify the owner, design, and construction contacts who need reports. Set expectations for how observations, test results, and questions will reach the appropriate people.

03

Special inspection scope

CSA’s brochure includes review and preparation of special inspection reports. Share the project’s inspection requirements so responsibilities and reporting can be confirmed.

A clearer scope.
A practical next step.

You don’t need every detail settled to get in touch. Send what you have, and we’ll help identify what’s needed to discuss the work.

What does the ownership team need documented?

Share the Ohio project, inspection requirements, owner contact, and reporting needs. We’ll discuss the owner’s scope and how it coordinates with the project team.

A general location is enough to start the conversation.

Field experience.
Engineering perspective.

Our field services team is supported by geotechnical and geostructural engineers who understand how the investigation, design, and construction fit together.

Cincinnati, Ohio

Delta Flats

Retaining-wall design & quality control inspection

CSA designed retaining walls and provided quality control inspections for this residential development on Cincinnati’s east side.

  • The documented scope covers ten walls, including modular block, soldier pile, and cast-in-place concrete systems.
  • The wall layouts addressed hillside constraints, neighboring property, and access through the development.

Water’s Edge Sewer Separation

Temporary shoring, backfill planning & wall monitoring

CSA developed the excavation-support and backfill approach for sewer work beside an existing retaining wall, then monitored the wall during construction.

  • The work included excavations reaching 17 feet alongside a 15-foot MSE wall.
  • CSA checked wall movement twice each workday and at completion; its project account reports no appreciable movement.

Define the reporting before the testing.

An owner’s assurance plan needs named recipients, identified work areas, and a clear path for observations and test results. Bring those requirements into the discussion of field coverage and laboratory testing so the records support your project’s agreed scope.

For the planning conversation

Bring the inspection scope into the owner's plan.

For Cincinnati building projects, the city's special inspection form is a useful starting point for discussing activities, agencies, and reporting contacts. For ODOT work, collect the construction specification references identified in your project documents.

Good questions.
A better starting point.

What does owner-based construction QA cover?

For these services, QA is the owner’s assurance program: planned observations and testing to document the work against project requirements. The actual activities, reporting, and responsibilities are defined in the project scope.

Is owner QA the same as a contractor’s QC program?

They serve different project roles. An owner’s QA program supports assurance and documentation; a contractor’s QC program supports control of its construction work. Both can involve testing, but their responsibilities and report recipients need to be defined separately.

Can CSA prepare special inspection reports?

CSA lists review and preparation of special inspection reports in its testing and inspection brochure. Send the project requirements so the team can confirm the needed observations, qualifications, and reporting scope.
